Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Brendon McCullum has showered praise on wicket-keeper batter Sheldon Jackson. The former New Zealand skipper likened Sheldon Jackson to MS Dhoni.
Jackson has been superb behind the stumps for KKR this season and he has done a fine job while keeping, especially against the spinners.
However, Jackson is yet to fire with the bat in the ongoing season and McCullum added that he is a clean striker of the ball. Jackson has a lot of experience of playing in the domestic circuit and he is grabbing his opportunities in the ongoing season for KKR.
Jackson has taken some fine catches this season and had also affected a lightning-fast stumping of Robin Uthappa in the season’s opener against Chennai Super Kings.
“Sheldon continues to get better and better. He is 35, but you wouldn’t know. His growth in the last two years has been significant. He has a good ball-striking ability. And very few players hit the ball as far as he does, he is not too far, if not the same, behind Andre Russell when he is striking the ball. I am sure with more opportunities, we will see a performance from Sheldon,” the former New Zealand captain told reporters.
“The wicketkeeping skills have been superb. He has got an MS Dhoni sort of a feel about keeping; really fast hands, and an understanding of spin. He knows what the bowlers are doing. He is desperate to do well,” said McCullum.
On the other hand, former Indian legendary batter Sachin Tendulkar and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh had also praised Sheldon Jackson for his good work behind the stumps.
“That was an outstanding stumping. @ShelJackson’s speed reminded me of @msdhoni. Lightning-fast!! #CSKvKKR,” Tendulkar had said in a tweet.
Meanwhile, KKR has got off to a decent start as they have won two of their three matches this season. KKR will next face Mumbai Indians at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune on Wednesday.
