Royal Challengers Bangalore wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik feels it is best not to overcomplicate their situation of qualifying for the playoff stages.
To qualify for the last four of the tournament, RCB not only has to beat table-toppers Gujarat Titans but also they will hope that Mumbai Indians do them a favor by beating Delhi Capitals in their last league stage match.
Thus, RCB’s fate is not in their hands in the tournament and they need both of these results to go their way. However, as the famous adage goes, ‘You can only control the controllables’, RCB will need to focus on their clash against Gujarat Titans.
RCB will have to come up with a collective effort against Gujarat Titans, which inarguably have been the best team in the tournament thus far.
Dinesh Karthik said on RCB Match Day: “At the end of the day, we are all aware that we need two results to go out, not just one that we have control over. We will try to do our best. I think it is best not to overcomplicate that situation because it is literally not in your hands.”
The veteran keeper added team should take it as a privilege that they still have a chance of qualifying for the playoff stages.
“I think heading into the last week with an opportunity to get into the playoffs can either be looked at as pressure or privilege. I think we look at it like it is a privilege because we have the opportunity to qualify while some of the teams don’t.”
Karthik added: “We just have to make sure our preparation is thorough and then get into the game.”
Meanwhile, GT and LSG have already qualified for the playoff stages. RR is also all set to make it to the last four and one among DC and RCB are favorites to make the cut.
On the other hand, Dinesh Karthik has been superb for RCB in the ongoing season as a finisher. The experienced batter has scored 285 runs in 13 matches at an impressive average of 57 and a blistering strike rate of 192.56. Thus, RCB will hope that Karthik will bring his best in a must-win game.
