Punjab Kings will face the defending champions Chennai Super Kings in the 38th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday.
PBKS had lost their previous match against Delhi Capitals by nine wickets as they were skittled out for a meager total of 115 runs.
On the other hand, CSK had won a thriller against Mumbai Indians as MS Dhoni had scored 16 runs off the last four balls to snatch his team from the jaws of defeat.
When these two teams had met earlier in the season, Punjab Kings had won by a massive margin of 54 runs. Since then, PBKS have been hot and cold as they have managed three wins from seven matches whereas CSK is also in the same boat as they have won only two games out of the seven they have played.
Meanwhile, there is no doubt that both of these teams need to come up with a better batting effort. PBKS batters have adopted the approach of ‘see the ball and hit the ball’ and they will like to re-access their approach after reading the pitch and the match situation.
The likes of Shah Rukh Khan and Jonny Bairstow haven’t yet delivered for the team. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will also want their batters to be more consistent. MS Dhoni did what he is known for in the last game but their top-order hasn’t been at the top of their game.
Match Prediction: Punjab Kings will enter the contest as favorites against Chennai Super Kings.
CSK Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Moeen Ali, Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (c), MS Dhoni (wk), Shivam Dube, Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary.
PBKS Predicted Playing XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Mayank Agarwal (c), Jonny Bairstow, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shahrukh Khan, Odean Smith, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora, Kagiso Rabada.
