Former Indian skipper Kris Srikkanth slammed Karun Nair after Delhi Capitals suffered a six-wicket loss against Punjab Kings at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on Saturday. Nair, who was the substitute fielder, dropped two simple catches of Punjab Kings skipper Shreyas Iyer when he was on 28 and 35 in the run chase of 265.

Iyer went on to hurt the Delhi Capitals as he scored a match-winning knock of 71 runs off 36 balls and helped his team pull off the most successful run chase in IPL history.

Furthermore, Auqib Nabi and Lungisani Ngidi dropped relatively tougher chances on Saturday.

Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “He (Karun Nair) went down to catch both times instead of catching it from a middle position. How are you fielding like this, being an international cricketer? He took a good catch before, but then how can you try to catch from a sitting position at long-on? If you drop Shreyas Iyer like this, how can you win? Eventually, he smashed them.”

On the other hand, the 1983 World Cup-winning player also praised Shreyas Iyer for his mature knock of 71 runs off 36 balls. The PBKS skipper scored three fours and seven sixes in his blistering knock.

He concluded, “He almost smashes sixes when he’s bored. It’s like he gets bored and decides when he wants to hit a delivery for a six,” said Srikkanth about Iyer (via the aforementioned source).

Meanwhile, Prabhsimran Singh scored a splendid knock of 76 runs off just 26 balls with the help of nine fours and five maximums. The wicket-keeper bat scored his runs at a whirlwind strike rate of 292.31.

Punjab Kings will next take on Rajasthan Royals at New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
