England’s World Cup winning captain Eoin Morgan has heaped praise on Shubman Gill after the youngster played a match-winning knock of 70 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Saturday. Gill, who has shown all the promise to go a long way in his career, was at his best to help KKR secure their first win of IPL 2020.
Gill had an opportunity to bat with Eoin Morgan and the duo added a fine alliance of 92 runs to get KKR over the line. Morgan stated that the prodigy batsman is hungry to learn and deserves all the credit for his success.
Morgan added that he didn’t need to tell a lot to Gill and he was pleasing to the eye. Gill timed the ball to perfection and didn’t panic at any situation of the game. The right-hander took the onus on his shoulder and took the team all the way, which goes to show the maturity in his game.
Eoin Morgan said while talking at post-match ceremony, “I didn’t have to tell him a great deal to be honest, he’s beautiful to watch on the eye, good bat swing, very languid style, magnificent to watch, he’s good kid, very hungry to learn and I would love to bat with him once again. I think he deserves all the success”.
Gill would aim to continue his good form and deliver the goods for KKR. The right-hander will play a crucial role at the top of the order and he will aim to provide a good start to his team along with Sunil Narine.
On the other hand, it is a great opportunity for Gill to learn from the likes of Eoin Morgan. Morgan has been a consistent performer for England in the last five years and he is known to get the best out of the players.
Meanwhile, KKR would be happy to get their first win of the season after their loss against Mumbai Indians. KKR also came up with a collective bowling effort to restrict SRH to a paltry score of 142 runs in their 20 overs.
KKR will play their next game against Rajasthan Royals on 30th September at Dubai International Stadium.
