IPL 2021: Along with Maxwell, Ravindra Jadeja is probably the best fielder in the world – Scott Styris

Former New Zealand all-rounder and now a cricket expert Scott Styris has heaped praise on Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.

Styris believes Jadeja is probably the best fielder in the world along with Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.

Jadeja has taken giant strides in his game in the last couple of years and he has been in sublime form in all the three formats of the game. The all-rounder also did a fantastic job for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021 before the tournament was suspended indefinitely.

The southpaw scored 131 runs in six innings for CSK at an average of 131 and a blistering strike rate of 161.72. His best knock came against Royal Challengers Bangalore when he smashed 62 runs from 28 balls after scoring 36 runs in an over against Harshal Patel.

Furthermore, he scalped six wickets in seven matches at an average of 26.83 and thus delivered with both bat as well as the ball. Moreover, Jadeja was at his absolute best in the field as he took unbelievable catches and also affected some brilliant run-outs.

“I can tell you from a foreigner’s perspective, I could never understand any of the criticism that came his [Ravindra Jadeja’s] way. He is a terrific cricketer, he can do absolutely everything at the top highest level,” Styris said on Star Sports.

“I love his fielding ability. Along with, say, Glenn Maxwell, I think he is probably the best fielder in the world at the moment. And you always separate yourself from your ability to throw the stumps down and affect those run-outs. I think that’s where he is better than everybody else,” Styris added.

Styris added that CSK made a smart move by promoting Jadeja in the batting order. Jadeja was able to add the finishing touches for the franchise in the seven matches of the tournament.

“I have been calling it since last year. I thought CSK needed to move him up the order and I am glad it happened this year because he is just that good. He has the ability to be a genuine batsman and then use that power at the end to close games, like a Pollard, like a Hardik Pandya, like an AB de Villiers,” Styris further said.

CSK were at the second place in the points table with five wins from seven matches before the tournament was postponed indefinitely by the BCCI.
