Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has inspired a whole new generation of cricketers and among them is a 22-year old boy from Saurashtra, Chetan Sakariya. Chetan played against MS Dhoni when RR locked horns against CSK in the 12th match of IPL 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday.
It was a fanboy moment for Sakariya to share the same stage with his role model and he stated that it is the best moment of his life and he will cherish it forever.
Chetan shared a picture with MS Dhoni after CSK defeated RR by a massive margin of 45 runs. The left-arm pacer took to his Instagram handle to share the appreciation post for MS Dhoni.
Chetan wrote, “I admire you since I was a child and today I got the opportunity to play with you, it was the best moment of my life and I will cherish it forever. There won’t be anyone like you ever. Thanks a lot for inspiring all of us throughout the career.”
Dhoni has been a massive player and the young players have looked up to him. The former Indian skipper is the most successful Indian captain as he led the team to glory in the T20 World Cup 2007, 50-overs World Cup 2011, and the Champions Trophy 2013. Dhoni had also led the team to number one Test rankings.
Meanwhile, Sakariya came up with another impressive performance against Chennai Super Kings as he scalped three wickets and conceded 36 runs. In fact, Sakariya dismissed MS Dhoni and also accounted for big wickets of Suresh Raina and Ambati Rayudu.
Sakariya has snared six wickets in three matches of the season as he has bowled with an average of 16.67. The left-arm pacer made an impressive debut against Punjab Kings as he returned with three wickets and conceded only 31 runs in his four overs when the rest of the bowlers took a beating.
Sakariya has impressed with his ability to bowl accurate yorkers and also has a good slower ball under his arsenal. RR will play their next match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on April 22.
