Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman Saba Karim reckons Mumbai Indians rely heavily on Suryakumar Yadav’s batting.
Suryakumar is well known to hit the ground running and has played some fine knocks for Mumbai Indians in the past. The right-hander can take the attack to the opposition from the get-go and he can consistently find the gaps at will.
Most importantly, SKY, as he is famously known, can mold his game according to the match situation. The right-hander from Mumbai can play all around the ground and plays proper cricketing shots to get his runs.
Furthermore, Yadav has an impressive record in the domestic circuit and has taken the International stage like fish to water.
Saba Karim said on YouTube Channel, Khelneeti, “Mumbai Indians are lucky to have someone like Suryakumar Yadav who can come in to bat at number 3 or 4 and can anchor the innings, while also hitting boundary shots when needed. Mumbai rely heavily on Suryakumar Yadav’s batting. His name will also come up for sure when the franchise looks for the players to retain for their upcoming seasons.”
On the other hand, Karim feels Mumbai Indians can use Ishan Kishan as a floater in their batting unit and it will make sense to bat the attacking left-handed batsman at number four.
“Ishan Kishan is not needed at the top of the order for MI. The team uses him well at number 4. I don’t think they will want to make any such changes. They have a settled batting unit and also have a lot of depth in their batting order. Ishan Kishan is a type of player who can be used as a floater. He will have a similar role with the Indian team as well,” Karim added.
Mumbai Indians will look to make a hat-trick of titles by going all the way in the upcoming season. The franchise is known to come up with collective effort in the tournament and they will look to continue their domination.
MI had won four out of the seven matches and is placed at fourth place in the points table. The Rohit Sharma-led team will resume their IPL campaign against Chennai Super Kings on 19th September in Dubai.
