Delhi Capitals opening batsman Prithvi Shaw went Bang Bang in the first over against Kolkata Knight Riders while chasing the score of 156 runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Thursday.
Shaw took the attack against his former Under-19 teammate Shivam Mavi to score 4, 4, 4, 4, 4, 4 in the first over of the innings.
Mavi bowled a wide on the first ball and thus he leaked 25 runs in the first over. Shaw has now become the second batsman to score six fours in an over in the IPL history. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane had scored six fours in an over in the 2012 edition when he smashed Sreenath Aravind at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Shaw timed the ball to perfection as he batted at his absolute best. The talented batsman scored 82 runs from 41 balls to help his team chase down 156 runs with ease with seven wickets in hand and 21 balls to spare.
The right-hander showed no mercy to the KKR bowlers as he scored his runs at a strike rate of 200. Shaw added that he has been playing with Shivam Mavi for four to five years and knew where he was going to bowl to him.
Shaw smashed Mavi over his head for the first boundary of the over. The right-hander scored two boundaries in the cover region, flicked one to the mid-wicket and guided two to the third man region. Shaw was just unstoppable and Mavi had no clue of where to bowl to him.
In fact, Mavi was not given another over by Eoin Morgan and he was taken out of the attack by Prithvi Shaw. On the other hand, Shikhar Dhawan scored 46 runs from 47 balls and the DC opening pair added 132 runs for the first wicket. Thus, the run-chase of 156 runs was a stroll in the park for Delhi Capitals.
