Rajasthan Royals talisman batsman Jos Buttler revealed that he kept doing the good things in the practice sessions when he was out of form. The right-hander had scored only 132 runs in the first six matches of the tournament but he was able to turn the tables against SRH as he showed no mercy to the opposition’s bowlers.
Buttler got back into form as he scored a sublime knock of 124 runs off just 64 balls and also brought up his maiden IPL ton against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Sunday. The right-hander took a bit of time to get settle and then changed his gears after getting his eye in.
Buttler scored 11 fours and eight sixes as he batted at the top of his game. Buttler admitted that one has to swallow a tough pill when he is not in form after he was able to roar back into form. The right-hander will take a lot of confidence after scoring this hundred and he will look to continue his good form in the coming matches.
Buttler said after the match, “This is up there (among my best) and certainly my first hundred in T20 cricket. I am delighted with that. I won’t say that I have been at my most fluent of late. I haven’t quite been feeling at ease at the crease, sort of searching for something. But what has been good is keeping a good mindset. Everyday is a new opportunity, and the next game is the one where it may turn around. You just keep doing the good things. Absolutely enjoyed today. It was nice to spend some time in the middle and sort of get back to my best.”
Buttler is known for his aggressive batting but added that he had to swallow his ego when he was not scoring runs. The right-hander is a key player for Rajasthan Royals and he has always been instrumental in the success of the franchise.
Buttler added, “Sometimes you would have to swallow your ego and accept that things haven’t been happening like you would like them to or you don’t feel in perfect touch or you are not picking up the ball well and just give yourself some time and find a way. I like to be aggressive and scoring at a strike rate from the outset but sometimes that isn’t possible”
RR will next CSK at the same venue on 5th of May.
