Former Kolkata Knight Riders captain Gautam Gambhir admitted that Rohit Sharma gave him sleepless nights as a leader in the Indian Premier League.
Gambhir who played with and against Rohit, showered praise on the talisman and hailed him as the most successful captain in the IPL history.
Rohit has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and he is the most successful captain in the history of the tournament. The right-hander has led Mumbai Indians in 129 matches out of which the team has won 75 and lost 50 games whereas four matches have ended in a tie. Thus, Rohit has a winning percentage of 59.68, which is the best for any IPL captain, who has led in a minimum of 100 matches.
Rohit is well known for his calm and composed approach and he is known to get the best out of his players. Mumbai has had a potent team over the years and Rohit has been doing a fine job in guiding the team on the right path.
Gautam Gambhir said on Star Sports, “As captain, Rohit Sharma is the only player who gave me sleepless nights. Neither Chris Gayle nor AB de Villiers nor anyone else, only Rohit Sharma. He is the player who gave me sleepless nights. There is no more successful cricketer in the history of Indian Premier League (IPL) than Rohit Sharma as captain.”
On the other hand, former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan also heaped praise on Rohit Sharma and added that his name will forever be on top for Mumbai Indians.
