Chennai Super Kings registered a thrilling win by three wickets against Mumbai Indians on Thursday and it was former CSK skipper MS Dhoni who was at the forefront of the victory once again.
Needing to 16 to win off the last four balls of their innings, Dhoni smashed a six and two fours off Jaydev Unadkat’s bowling to power CSK home. It looked like a very difficult task at one point in the game but Dhoni showed once again that he still has it in him to finish off games, even at this age.
CSK Captain Ravindra Jadeja seemed very excited with the win after the match. He even doffed his hat to MS Dhoni after the legendary batter’s heroic act. Speaking at the post-match interview, Jadeja said, “Actually we were very tense, the way the game was going, but at some stage we knew that the great finisher of the game was there and if he played to the last ball, he can definitely finish the match.”
“He (Dhoni) showed the world that he’s still here and he can finish the game,” Jadeja added.
It was the second win of the season for CSK in the seven games they have played so far. This win still keeps them in contention for the playoffs mathematically.
Mumbai Indians, on the other hand, have set the record for the worst ever start made by a team in IPL history. They have now lost seven matches on the trot and have very little chance of making a comeback into this tournament.
Jadeja also praised Dwayne Bravo and Ambati Rayudu for hoe calmly they batted in tense situations.
“We have plenty of experience in our team so they know when to perform and what to do. So if we’re not winning the game, still we look to be calm and relaxed,” the CSK skipper said.
CSK’s fielding was very poor in the match. Even a fielder like Jadeja dropped a catch but he stressed on the fact that he never takes fielding for granted and they will come back with a better effort in the upcoming matches.
