Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani is on cloud nine after Lucknow Super Giants signed him before the upcoming season of Indian Premier League 2022. Muzarabani revealed that it was his childhood dream to play in the IPL and he is delighted it is now fulfilled.
The lanky fast bowler from Zimbabwe was roped in by the new franchise as a replacement for England fast bowler Mark Wood, who was brought for a whopping amount of INR 7.5 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
The fast bowler recently played in Pakistan Super League for Multan Sultans as he picked five wickets in four matches. Thus, Muzarabani will look to grab his opportunity while playing for the KL Rahul-led team.
The fast bowler took to Twitter to give his gratitude to the Lucknow franchise for backing him.
He wrote in his post, “Thanks to @LucknowIPL for giving me the great opportunity to play @IPL; it was my childhood dream, I am very happy now my dream will come true. very Excited for playing the world’s biggest cricket league #IPL2022 | #IPL”.
The fast bowler from Harare has played 30 ODIs and 21 T20Is for Zimbabwe, in which he has scalped 64 wickets in total.
On the other hand, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir believes it will be a challenge for his team to hit the ground running. However, the former Indian opener feels the players have the experience of playing for other franchises and it will help them in the upcoming season.
Speaking to Republic India, Gambhir said: “Not going to be, and we expect that as well. It is a good challenge to have. And the good part about this is that obviously the players will be excited from the scratch, which is obviously a huge advantage when they do not have baggage to carry. And they can be a part of legacy and history as well. The franchise is new, but the players aren’t. They have all played for one franchise or another.”
