Lucknow Super Giants captain KL Rahul entered the team’s bubble on Wednesday morning and he has started his quarantine period. Rahul is looking forward to meeting his teammates and start his training for the upcoming season.
The right-hander had missed the series against West Indies and Sri Lanka due to injury and he will be looking to hit the ground running.
Rahul believes the next two months are going to be special and he feels it will be a great opportunity as a new franchise to do something special. The flamboyant batter had led Punjab Kings in the last two seasons and he will look to use that experience to good effect while leading Lucknow Super Giants.
KL Rahul said in an Instagram video, uploaded by the official account of the franchise, “Hey everyone, KL here. Just got into the Lucknow Super Giants’ bubble this morning. Really hoping these three quarantine days can finish quickly so I can get out and meet the squad and get to know all of them. The next two months are going to be very special. It’s going to be a lot of fun, working with all the guys.”
“We all are going to try and work together, towards winning. The new season gives us a great opportunity as a new franchise to do something special and everyone on the team is very excited to do that. Can’t wait for the season and can’t wait for all of us to get on the park and win games together.”
On the other hand, KL Rahul has been a consistent performer in the IPL, especially in the last couple of seasons. Rahul has amassed 3273 runs in 94 IPL matches at an impressive average of 47.43 and a strike rate of 138.36. Ergo, the wicket-keeper batter will look to continue the same form for the Lucknow franchise.
Rahul had scored 626 runs in 13 matches for Punjab Kings in IPL 2021 but the franchise failed to qualify for the playoff stages. The Super Giants will begin their campaign against Gujarat Titans at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
