Chennai Super Kings’ new captain Ravindra Jadeja reacted after MS Dhoni decided to step down as the team’s skipper and gave the baton to the all-rounder. Jadeja admitted he needs to fill in the big boots as MS Dhoni has left a big legacy behind.
Dhoni led CSK in 213 matches (including the Champions League T20) out of which the team won 131 matches whereas they lost 81. The former skipper led the franchise to six trophies (four IPL and two CLT20 titles). Dhoni took CSK to glory in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 in the IPL.
Meanwhile, Ravindra Jadeja has been in red-hot form in the last couple of seasons and he will be looking to lead from the front. Jadeja added that he doesn’t need to worry as Dhoni will be there to guide him.
“Feeling good. At the same time, I need to fill in big boots like Mahi Bhai’s who has already set a big legacy, so I need to carry forward,” Ravindra Jadeja reacted after taking over as CSK captain.
“I don’t need to worry too much because he’s here so whatever I have any questions to ask, I’ll definitely go to him. He’ll be my go-to person, he was, and he still is today, so I am not worried too much. So thank you all for your wishes and love, cheers,” Jadeja added. “Keep supporting us. Thank you”.
There is no doubt that Ravindra Jadeja will have his work cut out however he would want to follow the footsteps of MS Dhoni. The former skipper wanted a smooth transition in the leadership role and Jadeja is the right man to take CSK forward.
Meanwhile, Chennai had retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Moeen Ali before the mega auction.
Chennai Super Kings will begin their title defense against the previous season’s runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on March 26.
