Gujarat Titans all-rounder Vijay Shankar has showered praise on his skipper after they defeated Kolkata Knight Riders by seven wickets at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata on Saturday. Shankar said Pandya always wants to find a way to come out good in difficult situations.
Pandya had led the team from the front in GT’s maiden season of the IPL, and had took them to glory. The all-rounder has once again got the best out of his players in the ongoing season of the IPL. GT is currently at the top of the points table with six wins in eight matches as they are proving their mettle.
On the other hand, Vijay Shankar scored a blistering knock of 51 runs from only 24 balls to help his team chase down 180 runs against KKR. Shankar has been in amazing form in the ongoing season as he has scored 199 runs in six matches at an average of 49.75 and a strike rate of 165.83.
“Hardik is really aggressive. He wants to find a way to come out good in difficult situations. He always wants to do it for the team. He takes the new ball. He has delivered it when we needed the wicket of Rohit Sharma against Mumbai Indians,” said Shankar.
Meanwhile, earlier in the tournament, Hardik Pandya had scored 66 runs against Lucknow Super Giants on a difficult pitch to help his team post 135 runs on the board.
“He (Hardik) got a 66 on a difficult wicket against LSG. He is taking up a lot responsibility. That’s the best thing to do. When you are captain you have to show the team that this is how it is done. That is why all the other players are really trusting him and doing whatever the team asks us to do.”
Gujarat Titans are once again ticking the right boxes as they are coming up with collective efforts. Hardik Pandya has been spot-on with his captaincy and he is guiding the players on the right track.
Gujarat Titans will next take on Delhi Capitals on Tuesday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
