Kolkata Knight Riders fast bowler Umesh Yadav believes the franchise has a potent bowling attack ahead of the 16th season of the Indian Premier League. KKR has fast bowlers like Umesh Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Tim Southee, and Lockie Ferguson.
KKR also has a good spin battery as there are bowlers Sunil Narine, Varun Chakravarthy, and Shakib Al Hasan. They also have good all-rounders such as Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, David Wiese, Shakib Al Hasan, and Venkatesh Iyer in their squad.
Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav was brilliant in the previous season, especially while bowling in the PowerPlay overs. Yadav had scalped 16 wickets in the 12 matches he played for KKR in IPL 2022 at an average of 21.18. Furthermore, the veteran bowled with a parsimonious economy rate of 7.06.
Speaking to India Today, Umesh Yadav said, “Yes, we have a very good bowling attack. We have experience. We have Shardul Thakur and Lockie Ferguson. We need to deliver in a disciplinary way, and then we will do well.”
KKR has won a total of two titles in the IPL, with their last crown coming back in 2014. Yadav believes the collective efforts of both batters and bowlers can help the team fulfill their quest for the third title.
He added, “Batters and bowlers both have to do well. Both departments have to do well. We need to take more wickets then we can win matches.”
Meanwhile, Yadav added that he is currently focusing on doing well in the upcoming IPL and then he will look to carry the same form and confidence in the WTC final against Australia.
He said, “I have to focus on IPL. White ball and red ball both cannot be done at the same time. If I do well in white-ball cricket, alternatively I will do well in red-ball cricket as well. I will be there in the WTC Final as well as Shami and Siraj. The team is very good. We will do well. We are very confident and are backing each other.”
Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2023 campaign against Punjab Kings at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali on 1st April.
