Former Australian all-rounder Tom Moody has tipped MS Dhoni as the best T20 captain of the game. Dhoni took India to glory in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup in 2007. The veteran has led Chennai Super Kings to four IPL titles as he has always led from the front.
Dhoni is regarded as one of the most astute leaders of the game and he is a step ahead of the opposition. CSK have qualified for 10 IPL finals and a lot of credit for the same goes to their Thala.
Dhoni has led in 225 matches in the IPL (including his stint with Rising Pune Supergiant), in which he has won 132 matches and lost 91. He has a win percentage of 58.66, which is the best for any IPL captain, who has led in at least 50 games.
Dhoni has once again led with aplomb as he has got the best out of his players like Shivam Dube, Ajinkya Rahane, and Tushar Deshpande. The CSK skipper made the most of his experience and guided his players on the right track.
“MS Dhoni hands down in my view is the best T20 captain we have ever seen. And he has shown examples of that this year. And if you are talking about Test cricket, I would not put MS Dhoni in that category,” Moody said on ESPNcricinfo.
Speaking about the best Test captains in the current time, Moody feels Ben Stokes has made a positive impact in his short reign time as a skipper. England has adopted an aggressive batting approach and they are reaping rewards for the same.
“I think there are other candidates, we have seen one recently, in Ben Stokes, who has had an enormous impact. And it is only a small sample size, but what he has done for England in the short period of time is quite a dramatic change the way the game is played,” Moody further added.
Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings were consistent throughout the league stage and defeated Gujarat Titans by 15 runs in the first qualifier.
