Former South African skipper AB de Villiers reckons no one has impressed as much as Yashasvi Jaiswal in the ongoing IPL 2023. The youngster did a magnificent job for RR at the top of the order as he gave a fine start to his team.
Jaiswal scored 625 runs in 14 IPL 2023 matches at an average of 48.08 and a strike rate of 163.61, which is the best for the top-five run-getter in the tournament.
The left-hander was able to hit the ground running for Rajasthan Royals and gave solid starts to the team along with Jos Buttler. However, his heroics went in vain as RR failed to make it to the playoffs.
Jaiswal scored a blistering knock of 124 runs against Mumbai Indians but RR lost that game. Furthermore, the left-hander also scored a quickfire knock of 98 runs off just 47 balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in the run-chase. The southpaw showed he has the potential to go a long way in his career and he is definitely the future of Indian cricket.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal for me and by a long margin for sure. He is a young player and has got all the shots in the book. He has a calm and composed temperament at the wicket and I love what he does, dominating the bowlers and always looks like he is in control. Shubman is a little bit older, I think Jaiswal’s got a long way to go, and he has all the credentials to become a great,” de Villiers said on Jio Cinema on Sunday, 28 May.
Jaiswal ticked the right boxes and he must have grown in confidence after a successful season. Furthermore, the youngster performed consistently for Mumbai in the domestic circuit.
The left-hander will look to continue the good show in the next season and deliver the goods for the team.
