IPL 2023: Top three run-getters of the league stage

The league stage of IPL 2023 dished out some brilliant performances from the best batters across the globe. After 70 matches, defending champions Gujarat Titans, four-time champions Chennai Super Kings, five-time champions Mumbai Indians, and Lucknow Super Giants made it to the playoffs.

There were some amazing batting performances and the batters were able to deliver the goods for their respective teams. We take a look at the top three run-getters of the league stage.

Faf du Plessis: The Royal Challengers Bangalore skipper was at his absolute best for the franchise in IPL 2023 league stage. The South African gave consistent starts to his team along with Virat Kohli and played a key role in the success of the team. The veteran right-hander scored 730 runs in 14 matches at an average of 56.15 and a strike rate of 153.68, which is the best among the top three run-scorers of IPL 2023.

Faf scored a total of eight fifties, which was the highest of the league stage. The 38-year-old best knock in the tournament came against Punjab Kings when he scored 84 runs.

Shubman Gill: Gujarat Titans opener Shubman Gill continued to impress in 2023 as it has been a dream year for him. The right-hander batted at his best for the reigning champions and once again delivered at the top of the order. The youngster played a key role in setting the foundation for the Hardik Pandya-led team.

Gill amassed 680 in 14 matches at an average of 56.67 and a strike rate of 152.47. Ergo, he played an instrumental role in taking his team to Playoffs and finishing at the numero uno position in the points table, with 10 wins in 14 games. Gill scored a total of four fifties and two centuries in the league stage.

Virat Kohli: The RCB veteran Virat Kohli once again showed his class. Kohli got off to a good start in the season but then veered off the track in the middle phase. However, he once again bounced back at the fag end of the league stage. The linchpin scored 639 runs in 14 matches at an average of 53.25 and a strike rate of 139.82 in IPL 2023.

Kohli scored two centuries and a total of six fifties but his heroics went in vain as RCB failed to qualify for the playoffs. The veteran scored a fantastic hundred against SRH and he also followed it with a century against Gujarat Titans but RCB could not qualify for the last four.
