Australian skipper Pat Cummins became the most expensive player in the IPL history, going to Sunrisers Hyderabad for a whopping amount of INR 20.50 crores. In a bidding war between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad, it was the latter who had the final laugh.
Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad also roped in World Cup final hero Travis Head for INR 6.8 crores. Head played a magnificent knock of 137 runs in the final against India.
Meanwhile, Cummins took 15 wickets in 11 matches of the ODI World Cup 2023. Thus, he played a key role in taking Australia to glory for the sixth time.
Cummins broke Sam Curran’s record, who was roped in by Punjab Kings for a huge amount of INR 18.50 crores in the IPL 2023 auction. The Australian pacer has taken 45 wickets in 42 IPL matches at an average of 30.16 and an economy rate of 8.54.
Furthermore, Sunrisers Hyderabad made a great steal as they roped in Sri Lankan mystery spinner Wanindu Hasaranga for INR 1.5 crores.
Meanwhile, Rovman Powell was roped in by Rajasthan Royals for INR 7.40 crores.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings have roped in Shardul Thakur and Rachin Ravindra for INR 4 crores and 1.80 crores respectively.
Mumbai Indians were able to get the services of Gerald Coetzee for INR 5 crores. The South African pacer picked 20 wickets in eight matches of the tournament and thus played a key role in taking the Proteas to the semifinal.
Punjab Kings were able to rope in Harshal Patel for a whopping amount of INR 11.75 crores.
Delhi Capitals were able to make a successful bid of INR 4 crores for England swashbuckling batter Harry Brook.
