Delhi Capitals’ spinner Kuldeep Yadav revealed his plan to bowl in the good length area against Rajasthan Royals after their 20-run win at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi on Tuesday. After posting 221 runs on the board, DC was able to restrict RR to 201-8 to keep up the good show.
Yadav played a key role in the second innings as he returned with impressive figures of 2-25 in his quota of four overs, conceding his runs at 6.20. The wrist spinner accounted for Donovan Ferreira and Ravichandran Ashwin in his final over and conceded only four runs in that over.
Kuldeep continued his rich form and he was awarded Player of the Match for his fine bowling performance.
Kuldeep said in the post-match presentation, “It is very important to bowl on a good length and that’s the main challenge when I bowl in the death overs. I have played against him (Ferreira) in South Africa and I knew he was a back foot player and wanted to stay a little full and quick and got him out first ball.”
He added, “I bowled a couple of seam-up deliveries to read what the batters are doing. Just the length matters for me and that was the plan. Whenever we score 200-plus obviously lot of pressure on the bowler and it is also an opportunity to take wickets and I was trying to back my strengths and keep believing.”
Kuldeep has bagged 14 wickets in nine matches at an average of 20.50 and an economy rate of 8.25 in the ongoing IPL 2024. Yadav has been at his best in the recent past and he would want to continue the good show.
Delhi Capitals will next take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
