Rajasthan Royals skipper lauded Jos Buttler after their convincing six-wicket win against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Saturday. Buttler, who wasn’t in the best of forms in the first three matches, scored a fine unbeaten knock of 100 runs off just 58 balls.
The right-hander scored his sixth IPL century, which had nine fours and four sixes. Buttler took Mayank Dagar to the cleaners, smashing him for 20 runs in the final over of the Powerplay, and from there on RCB bowlers were always under the pump.
England’s limited-overs captain added 148 runs with RR skipper Sanju Samson for the second wicket after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for naught. Samson also scored a fine knock of 69 runs off 42 balls and played a key role in his team’s win.
Sanju Samson said in the post-match presentation, “Anything below 190 with a little bit of dew, with the batting order we have, it was a good score to chase. Touchwood, a few games to go, they are doing well, four days of gap, allows people to recover, rest, train and allows you to come charged up for a game.”
Rating his team’s bowling and batting performance, Samson added, “Bowling is 9 and batting is 8.7. [on Buttler] Just about time, if he gets through the powerplay, and if he hits it, very happy for him and very happy for the team.”
Buttler and Samson made most of the dew conditions and batted with guile to get their team over the line. On the other hand, RCB could only score 55 runs in the last five overs despite having wickets in hand.
Virat Kohli scored a fine knock of 113 runs off 72 balls but could not accelerate the way he would have wanted in the last five overs. Furthermore, he didn’t receive support from the other end after Faf du Plessis was dismissed after scoring 44 off 33 balls.
Rajasthan Royals will next take on Gujarat Titans on Wednesday at the same venue of Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur.
