IPL 2024: Our bowlers were brilliant from the start – Cameron Green after win against DC

Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder Cameron Green showered praise on the team’s bowlers after their convincing win of 47 runs against Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday. RCB posted a par score of 187 runs on the board after Axar Patel decided to bowl first and then the hosts skittled out the visitors at 140 to win comprehensively.

Swapnil Singh struck in the first over of the innings as he had David Warner caught at long-on. Abishek Porel was dismissed on a short delivery by Yash Dayal whereas in-form Jake Fraser-McGurk was run out in an unlucky fashion.

Subsequently, Kumar Kushagra was plumbed in front by Mohammed Siraj to leave DC reeling at 30-4 after 3.3 overs. Axar Patel and Shai Hope then added 56 runs for the fourth wicket but DC kept losing wickets at regular intervals.

Cameron Green came up with an all-round performance as he scored an unbeaten knock of 32 runs off 24 balls. Furthermore, Green returned with impressive figures of 1-19 and also affected Tristan Stubbs’ run-out and bagged the Player of the Match award.

Green said in the post-match presentation, “Great game for our team. This year there has been so many high scores and there is little bit something there for the bowler and our bowlers were brilliant from the start. We identified that pace on is easy to play, Khaleel bowled a lot of off-cutters which were gripping and tough to target and we tried the same in our bowling. This is such a small ground and there is something in there for the bowlers which is good to see.”

On the other hand, Lockie Ferguson also returned with fine figures of 2-23 as he accounted for Shai Hope and Mukesh Kumar.

The New Zealander said after the game, “We’ve all been working really hard throughout the tournament. Even when we were losing, it was all very even, we were still enjoying ourselves, we knew that things would go right soon. The batters did extremely well, it was gripping a bit more than normal. Looking forward to a few days off and then taking on Chennai. Can be challenging bowling here, been great working with Griffith (bowling coach). Makes it easy when we take wickets throughout.”

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their last league stage match of the season against Chennai Super Kings at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Saturday.
