Punjab Kings will lock horns against Chennai Super Kings in the 53rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Sunday in a day game. These two teams recently met on Wednesday in Chennai, whereas PBKS convincingly won by seven wickets.
PBKS have proved to be a thorn in CSK’s flesh as they have beaten them in their last five meetings. The Punjab bowlers, especially spinners, came up with a brilliant performance against CSK, restricting the opposition to 162-7.
Harpreet Brar (2-17) and Rahul Chahar (2-16) bowled terrific spells but conditions are expected to be different in Dharamsala. Moreover, the return to form for Jonny Bairstow is a huge positive for the Punjab Kings.
Shikhar Dhawan has missed the last few matches due to injury and PBKS will be hopeful that he returns to action.
On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings will be determined to come up with a better batting show as they could only manage 162 runs in the last game. The CSK batters will look to play with a more aggressive batting approach.
Moreover, injury woes are also a headache for the team as Deepak Chahar walked off after bowling only two deliveries against PBKS. Furthermore, Tushar Deshpande and Matheesha Pathirana missed the previous match due to their respective injuries.
Match Prediction: Chennai Super Kings will enter the contest as favorites against Punjab Kings despite the previous match result.
