Former Australian gun fast bowler Brett Lee has compared Rajat Patidar’s cover drive with Virat Kohli after RCB’s 47-run win against DC. Patidar played a beautiful cover drive against Delhi Capitals against Mukesh Kumar on the first ball of the fifth over.
The flamboyant batter was once again able to hit the ground running and played his shots all around the ground. Patidar had the rub of the green on his side as he dropped by Shai Hope on 42 and received another reprieve from Axar Patel on 47.
However, he completed his fifth fifty in the last seven matches off 29 balls. Patidar scored another impressive knock of 52 runs off 32 balls with the help of three fours and as many sixes to help his team post 187 runs on the board. The Madhya Pradesh batter has been in sublime form as he has scored 320 runs in 11 innings at an average of 29.09 and a strike rate of 179.77 in IPL 2024.
Brett Lee said on JioCinema, “Well, the other thing, too, is that if you’re just flicked on your device, you’d think that’s Kohli right away.”
“It’s his 5th 50 this season, you know, we know he’s played test cricket, but it took him a while to get going. But the great thing is that that cover drive he played that when we were on air commentating about I mean, that is as good as it gets. So good to see that he’s found some form. Uh, hopefully it can continue,” said Lee.
Patidar has smashed 27 sixes in the ongoing season as he is batting at the top of his game. The right-hander could not deliver the goods against England in the five-match Test series but he has batted with aplomb in the IPL. Patidar could only manage 63 runs in three Test matches at an average of 10.50 and failed to deliver the goods.
