Mumbai Indians’ youngster Naman Dhir said they will take their learnings after a disappointing season and will look to bounce back stronger in the next edition. MI became the first team to be knocked out of the ongoing IPL and they will play their last league stage match against Lucknow Super Giants.
MI have only managed four wins out of the 13 matches they have played and they are currently at the bottom of the points table and are set to finish the season as the cellar-dwellers. The five-time champions could not come up with a collective show with both bat and ball and it led to their downfall.
Dhir said they will play the last match for their pride and will want to end the season on a high.
“We have to play for our pride. We want to end the season on a high. We want to win the match,” Naman Dhir told the reporters.
“I think failures taught us better than the innings we played well. I have learnt a lot from failures. How to stay calm in a situation. I have learnt a lot from failures and will implement it in the future,” he added.
Dhir said it was a mixed season for them as they could not collectively deliver with bat and ball.
“It was a mixed season in batting and bowling. Our batting was good in some matches, and in some, our bowling was good. So, it was like that. Still, we have put in a lot of effort. We will learn from here, and the next season will be even better,” he added.
Dhir also said that Jasprit Bumrah didn’t get the support from the other end. Bumrah has bagged 20 wickets in 13 matches for MI in the ongoing season at an average of 16.80.
