Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis was delighted after their comprehensive 60-run win against Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Thursday. RCB has won their last four matches to keep their campaign alive in the ongoing IPL 2024.
RCB posted a par score of 241 runs on the board after they were put into bat by Sam Curran. Faf du Plessis was dismissed cheaply for nine but Virat Kohli continued his good form. The RCB opener scored an impressive knock of 92 runs off just 47 balls as he played at the top of his game.
Furthermore, Rajat Patidar scored a quickfire knock of 55 runs off just 23 balls with the help of three fours and six maximums. Patidar added 76 runs with Virat Kohli before he was dismissed by Sam Curran. Furthermore, Cameron Green played a crucial knock of 46 runs off 27 balls whereas Dinesh Karthik added the finishing touches with a 7-ball 18.
On the other hand, Mohammed Siraj returned with figures of 3-43 whereas Swapnil Singh, Lockie Ferguson, and Karn Sharma bagged two wickets each to skittle out Punjab Kings at 181.
Faf du Plessis said in the post-match presentation, “That was a good game. We have scored 200-plus in the last 5-6 games. We have had good conversations, we were making the same mistakes over and over again. Needed aggression with the bat. We just spoke about taking wickets. We have 6-7 options in the bowling department. You need some form in your side. With a bit of luck is also required.”
He added, “We had a few guys looking for wickets and runs at the start of the tournament. The boys have shown character to turn it around. Everyone has chipped in with runs and the bowlers are taking wickets. For us it’s important to focus on ourselves. We want to stick to the style of play that we want to do, if we do that it’ll prove we are a really good team.”
RCB will next take on Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday.
