Sunrisers Hyderabad hard-hitter Travis Head revealed that the strategy was to watch the ball hard and try to maximize the Powerplay overs against Lucknow Super Giants after their comprehensive 10-wicket win at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Head scored another blistering knock of 89 runs off just 30 balls with the help of eight fours and as many sixes in the run-chase of 166 as he continued his rich form. The Australian completed his fifty off just 16 balls as he batted at the top of his game.
Head added 107 runs with Abhishek Sharma in the Powerplay overs as both the left-handers took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners.
Head was awarded the Player of the match for his whirlwind knock. He said in the post-match presentation, “Lot of fun today. Nice to get this done in 10 overs. Abhi and I have had a few partnerships like this. Just concentrate on getting in good positions, watch the ball hard and try to maximise the powerplay. (On his spin hitting) It is something I have been working on, it will be a big part in the Caribbean as well. It is important to go 360 in the modern game. (On fearless cricket) The last 12 months, that’s how they wanted me to play in the Aussie team, and that’s what I’ve been told to do here as well. Nothing much that I have to change.”
Head also showered praise on Abhishek Sharma, who scored a fine knock of 75 runs off just 28 balls with the help of eight fours and six maximums. Sharma completed his fifty off just 19 balls as he took the opposition bowlers to the cleaners.
Head added, “I know how hard he works and how deep he thinks, his spin play is second to none. We compliment each other very well. Nice to see him back amongst the runs after missing out the last couple of game.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad will next take on Gujarat Titans at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Thursday.
