Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf du Plessis said that they have been able to put consistent performances in the second half of the tournament. After managing a solitary win in their first eight matches, RCB has won five matches on the bounce in the second phase of IPL 2024.
RCB registered their fifth consecutive win against Delhi Capitals as they registered a 47-run victory at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Sunday. The hosts posted a par score of 187 runs on the board after Axar Patel decided to bowl first.
Rajat Patidar continued his rich form, scoring his fifth fifty of the season. Patidar scored 52 runs off 32 balls whereas Will Jacks scored a crucial knock of 41 runs off 29 balls. Furthermore, Cameron Green scored 32 off 24 balls to add the finishing touches.
The lanky Australian all-rounder also returned with impressive figures of 1-19 in his quota of four overs to bag the Player of the Match award. With this win, RCB became the first team in IPL 2024 to win five matches on the trot.
Faf du Plessis said in the post-match presentation, “Brilliant, we put some good performances and really pleased. 1st half of the season, things didn’t quite come together and from that batting perspective and bowling perspective we have been able to put it together now.”
The South African also showered praise on Swapnil Singh, who got the big wicket of David Warner in the first over of the innings.
Faf added, “Sometimes people talk about match-ups and all, but as a left-hander with the ball spinning in, you hope that works out sometimes and he’s (Swapnil) done brilliantly for us.”
The RCB skipper concluded, “A lot of work has gone behind the scenes, and we are getting it right and I feel there is a lot more variety in our bowling now and Yash and Lockie have been exceptional the last few games. We wanna play a style of cricket, to be bold and put some performances together, and keep going.”
