Chennai Super Kings head coach Stephen Fleming believes winning key moments will be crucial in the clash against Gujarat Titans. CSK won their opening match against RCB by six wickets whereas GT also registered a six-run win against Mumbai Indians on Sunday to kick start their campaign on a high.
Fleming, who has played a key role in the success of the team over the years, added that the team that copes with pressure will hold the advantage.
“I think ‘Who wants it more’ is a bit dramatic,” the former New Zealand skipper began.
“I think it is just which team copes the pressure better,” he clarified.
The CSK chief coach feels after playing only one match the teams are still figuring out their best playing combination.
“It is still very early in the completion so there are combinations being worked out and still the quest for cohesion in the teams being worked on,” the chief coach of the five-time title-winning side added.
Fleming is delighted that his team was able to win the opening game against RCB and wants the side to carry forward the winning impetus.
“It is nice to win the early games, but there is a lot going on in regards to settling in the competition,” he explained.
“Both teams will be happy to win tomorrow certainly,” he affirmed.
“The last game was an end-to-end affair and we are very happy to have picked up the win against RCB. To have a win first up is good and boosts confidence,” he revealed.
“Winning the key moments tomorrow and playing their key players well will be a big part,” the 50-year-old concluded.
Defending champions CSK will face previous season’s runners-up Gujarat Titans at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Tuesday.
