Chennai Super Kings will lock horns against reigning champions Kolkata Knight in the 25th match of the ongoing IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Friday. CSK has suffered a huge blow as Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out of the rest of the season due to a fractured elbow and in his absence, MS Dhoni will return as the skipper.
CSK has managed a solitary win out of the five games they have played and the five-time champions have failed to click as a batting unit. The top-order has failed to deliver consistent performances and it has led to their downfall. Devon Conway scored 69 runs in the last game but could not score his runs at the required run rate and thus he was asked to retire out.
MS Dhoni did show glimpses of the old, scoring a fine cameo of 12-ball 27 and it would not be a bad idea if he decides to bat more freely as a leader.
On the other hand, KKR has had a mixed start as they have managed two wins in five games. The defending champions have continuously rejigged their batting order and they would look to sort it out against CSK.
