Chennai Super Kings will lock horns against Punjab Kings in the 49th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on Wednesday. CSK is struggling at the bottom of the standings with only two wins in nine matches and a poor Net Run Rate of -1.302.
The batters have failed to deliver consistently for CSK and it has led to their downfall. Chennai has always been consistent in the history of the tournament but they haven’t looked like a playoff team.
MS Dhoni’s team will need to win their remaining five matches to keep their playoffs hopes alive, and they can’t afford to make any more mistakes.
On the other hand, Punjab Kings had to share points with KKR after the last game was washed out due to rain. PBKS is in fifth place in the standings with five wins, three losses and one no-result and they would aim to get back among the top four teams.
PBKS openers – Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya – have performed consistently for the Mohali-based franchise but their middle order needs to pull up their socks.
Interestingly, PBKS have won six out of their last seven matches against CSK.
