Gujarat Titans will lock horns against Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator contest at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, Chandigarh in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Friday. GT had a golden opportunity to finish among the top two teams but they squandered it and they would now face a champion team in Mumbai Indians.
Furthermore, GT would be without the services of their talisman Jos Buttler and thus the onus would be on their top two batters – Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan to continue their rich form. Kusal Mendis has replaced Buttler for the playoffs.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians had lost their previous match against Punjab Kings and they had also lost their recent game against Gujarat Titans by three wickets (DLS method).
Jonny Bairstow has joined Hardik Pandya’s team and the Englishman would replace Ryan Rickelton in the playing XI. Furthermore, Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch have left the MI squad as Charith Asalanka and Richard Gleeson have been added as replacements.
MI is known to bring their best in the crunch games, but no team, that has finished in fourth place in IPL standings, has ever gone on to win the title. MI had managed a solitary win in their first five games, and since then they have been on a roll.
Head to head: GT 5 – 2 MI.
