IPL 2025: Gujarat Titans vs Punjab Kings – Match Preview

Gujarat Titans will begin their IPL 2025 campaign against Punjab Kings at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Both teams would look to get off to a winning start in the tournament and hit the ground running.

Punjab Kings was able to rope in the services of Shreyas Iyer for a whopping amount of INR 26.75 crore and he would look to replicate his previous season’s success as a leader. Iyer is known for his astute captaincy and he would look to lead from the front.

PBKS have managed to qualify for the playoffs on only two occasions thus far in 17 seasons and they would want to be more consistent under the tutelage of experienced head coach Ricky Ponting.

PBKS were able to rope in a lot of Australian firepower as they bagged players like Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, and Josh Inglis in the auction. They also have a decent pace attack in Arshdeep Singh, Marco Jansen, and Lockie Ferguson and have a quality spinner in Yuzvendra Chahal

On the other hand, Shubman Gill could not help Gujarat Titans qualify for the playoffs in the previous season and they would look to turn the tables in this edition. The lack of inexperience in the middle order could be issue for them and they would want their top three batters – Jos Buttler, Shubman Gill, and Sai Sudharsan – to do the lion’s share of the scoring.

Head to Head: Matches: 5, Won by Gujarat Titans: 3, Won by Punjab Kings: 2.
