Mumbai Indians will lock horns against Delhi Capitals at the Wankhede Stadium in the 63rd match of the ongoing IPL 2025 on Wednesday. As Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Punjab Kings have qualified for the playoffs, only one spot in the playoffs is vacant and Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals are the two teams in contention.
With the playoff qualification on the line, this will be a must-win game for both teams. MI currently has one more point than DC after 12 games and both teams would aim to bring their best.
Meanwhile, DC had lost their previous match against Gujarat Titans by 10 wickets and they must come up with an improved bowling show.
On the other hand, this would be the first game for MI after the break. Hardik Pandya’s team had won six games on the bounce, before their winning streak was snapped by the Gujarat Titans before the suspension.
“I think we were always in contention for playoffs after we had that run. For us it’s good to start the tournament and play cricket, the guys have been waiting for this, training has been pretty good and just take one game at a time and see what we need to do. It’s in our control, it’s a great position to be in,” Mahela Jayawardene said ahead of the match.
If MI wins this contest, they will confirm their qualification for the last four as they will have a three-point lead against DC.
