IPL 2025: Rajat Patidar admits RCB didn’t bat well after loss against Delhi Capitals

Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar admitted they didn’t bat well after suffering a six-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday. After being put into bat, RCB raced to 61-1 after 3.5 but could only manage three runs on the next 13 balls in the Powerplay.

After the fielding restrictions were lifted, they kept losing wickets at regular intervals, losing all the momentum they had achieved in the first four overs. The home team was reduced to 125-7 however Tim David’s 20-ball 37 helped them post 163 runs on the board.

On the other hand, Delhi Capitals’ veteran batter KL Rahul, who knows Chinnaswamy’s pitch at the back of his hand, scored a match-winning knock of 93 runs off 53 balls. Tristan Stubbs scored an unbeaten 38 off 23 balls as DC continued their unbeaten run and won with 13 balls to spare.

Rajat Patidar said in the post-match presentation, “I think the way we saw the wicket, it was quite different, we thought it was a nice batting wicket, but we didn’t bat well. I don’t think so (if the batters were overconfident), every batter was in a good frame of mind, showing proper intent.”

He continued, “But it wasn’t acceptable to go from 80 for 1 to 90 for 4, we have a good batting line-up, but we need to assess the situation. That has been positive, the way Tim David accelerated was amazing, the bowling in the powerplay was special. We aren’t thinking about our away record, but we just need to play good cricket and keep it simple.”

This was RCB’s second home loss in as many games and they must find a way to win at home.

RCB will next take on Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Sunday.
