Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar gave credit to the bowlers after they registered a 12-run win against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on Monday. RCB posted a par score of 221 runs on the board after half-centuries from Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar.
Kohli scored 67 runs off 42 balls whereas Patidar smashed 64 runs off 32 balls. Furthermore, Jitesh Sharma scored a fine cameo of 19-ball 40.
On the other hand, RCB bowlers were able to restrict MI to 209. Josh Hazlewood and Yash Dayal bagged two wickets apiece whereas Krunal Pandya returned with figures of 4-45 in his quota of four overs.
Patidar showered praise on Krunal Pandya, who played a key role in RCB’s third win of the season.
Rajat Patidar, who was awarded Player of the Match, said in the post-match presentation, “That was a really amazing match. the way the bowlers have shown courage, it was amazing. To be honest, this award goes to the bowling unit because it’s not easy to stop a batting unit on this ground, so the credit goes to them. The way the fast bowlers executed their plans was great. The way Krunal has bowled was amazing. In the last over, it was not easy, I think the way he has bowled and the courage he has shown is amazing. At that time, it was clear that we have to take the game deep. So, the discussion was to take the game deep and use KP’s one over at the last.”
Moreover, Patidar also hailed Suyash Sharma, who bowled the most economical spell for RCB, conceding 32 runs in his allotted four overs.
Patidar concluded, “The wicket was good and the ball was coming on nicely to the bat. After the Hardik Pandya over, I went all out. The wrist spinner is one of the main bowlers because they are wicket-taking and the way he (Suyash Sharma) bowled was great.”
RCB will next take on Delhi Capitals at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru on Thursday.
