Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant shared his disappointment after they suffered a huge loss of 54 runs against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai in the ongoing IPL 2025 on Sunday. Chasing 216 runs for the win, LSG was bundled out for only 161 runs with Jasprit Bumrah taking four wickets.

Pant once again could not get going as he was dismissed after scoring only four runs off two balls. The left-hander has scored 110 runs in nine innings at an average of 12.22 and a strike rate of 98.21 in the ongoing IPL 2025. Thus, the wicket-keeper bat has struggled to lead from the front.

Speaking about his poor form, Rishabh Pant said after the loss, “Keeping it very simple, not thinking about it too much. In a season like this, where things are not going your way, you’re going to start questioning yourself as a player – that’s not something you want to do. When the team is doing well, you’ve got to think about that. It’s a team game. Everytime if you take out the individual, it’s not the right thing to do I guess.”

Speaking on his decision to bowl first, Pant said they wanted to back their batting, which is their strength in the tournament but things didn’t go as per the plans.

Pant added, “We feel as a team it was the right decision for us (to bowl first), because most of the time we back our batting. Yes bowlers, we want to give the best conditions for them, but today wasn’t our day. The other team is playing good cricket, you’ve got to give credit to them instead of just looking to question yourself. As a team, the dip is there but we can figure it out because we have a break at the right time.”

Lucknow Super Giants have lost their last two matches and they will next take on Punjab Kings at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala on Sunday.
