IPL 2025: Robin Uthappa credits Ashish Nehra for Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna’s form

Former Indian batter Robin Uthappa has given credit to Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra for getting the best out of Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna in the ongoing IPL 2025 so far. While Siraj dismissed Rajasthan Royals’ Nitish Rana, Krishna returned with impressive figures of 3-24 in his four overs against RR on Wednesday.

The lanky pacer accounted for Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, and Jofra Archer and played a key role in team’s 58-run win. Siraj has scalped 10 wickets in five matches of the tournament at an average of 15.40 whereas Krishna has bagged eight wickets in as many games at an average of 16.75.

Uthappa reckons head coach Nehra has given a lot of confidence to the pace duo and thus they have played a key role in team’s success.

“Well, he certainly does. I think it’s been a world of good for him and for Siraj to join Gujarat Titans under the guidance and leadership of Ashish Nehra. Because I think, he’s kind of spoken to them. You can tell that he’s worked with them, he’s worked on their bowling, and worked on their strengths as far as their bowling is concerned. You seldom see Krishna pitching the ball up now. He’s getting more back of a length, short ball. That’s where he bowls his quickest delivery. He’s just been on target. He’s a lot more disciplined, he’s a lot more economical,” said Uthappa on Star Sports.

Uthappa noted that Siraj’s wrist position has significantly improved while playing for Gujarat Titans as it was not the same in the last year.

“So is Siraj, his wrist position has changed completely from the time he’s joined this franchise. In the last 12 months or so, we saw his wrist position, go away. He’s trying to swing the ball away when predominantly when he gets at this position, right, he gets the ball to move late away from the batter and then it also moves off the seam and comes back in, which is what makes him a super dangerous bowler with the new ball. So I think it’s done a world of good for both Prasidh and for Siraj, especially Prasidh, because just the areas he’s hitting, he’s been phenomenal,” he added.

GT is at the top of the points table with four wins in five matches. Gujarat Titans will next take on Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Saturday.
