Rajasthan Royals opener Yashasvi Jaiswal had the best seat in the house as he witnessed history being created in front of his eyes. Jaiswal’s opening partner Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed no mercy to Gujarat Titans bowlers in the run-chase of 210 at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur on Monday.
The 14-year-old youngster was once again able to hit the ground running, completing his fifty off just 17 balls. After reaching his half-century, the young lad didn’t take his foot off the accelerator and reached his maiden IPL century off just 35 balls.
He became the youngest to score a century in the IPL history and also scored the fastest hundred in the IPL by an Indian batter and the second fastest overall after Chris Gayle. The southpaw smashed eight fours and 11 sixes in his blistering knock to stun one and all as he scored 93% of his runs in boundaries.
Yashasvi Jaiswal said on JioHotstar, “Incredible innings, one of the best I’ve seen. Hope he’ll keep doing it for us for a long time. I was just telling him to keep going. He was incredible today. He just played amazing shots. He works hard in the nets, we can see that. He has the game, he has the temperament and mentality. Wish him all the luck, and he should do well.”
On the other hand, Yashasvi Jaiswal also scored a crucial knock of 70 runs off just 40 balls and played a key role in taking RR over the line with 25 balls to spare. Jaiswal said the discussion was to finish the game with a settled batter as they had messed up in the last three matches.
Jaiswal concluded, “We were talking about that. Somebody needs to stay and finish the game. Last few games we haven’t finished the game. But we tried our best. I feel whoever is in the middle, that guy has to make sure to take the responsibility. Luckily, I was there today and I tried my best. Our coach has told us to take one game at a time. We will give one hundred percent in each and every game. In the end, it’s a beautiful day and a beautiful game of cricket, we need to enjoy it.”
Rajasthan Royals will next take on Mumbai Indians at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on Thursday.
