Lucknow Super Giants will take on Chennai Super Kings in the 59th match of the ongoing IPL 2026 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow, on Friday. While LSG has been eliminated from the playoffs race, CSK has found a second wind in the latter half of the tournament.
In the reverse fixture between these two teams, CSK registered a five-wicket win after Urvil Patel smashed a 23-ball 65. In the same game, Jamie Overton picked three wickets, but the England all-rounder has been ruled out with a right thigh injury, and South African all-rounder Dian Forrester has been named as Overton’s replacement.
Overton had been in fine form for the five-time champions, and thus his injury is a big blow for CSK.
However, Urvil Patel’s blistering knock had come as a breath of fresh air, as CSK batters are known to play with a sedate approach.
On the other hand, nothing has gone right for Lucknow Super Giants in the ongoing season. Their batting unit has failed to come up with a collective effort. However, the emergence of Prince Yadav has been the biggest positive for Rishabh Pant’s team.
LSG have been giving chances to young players, but they have failed to grab them with both hands.
