Two-bottom placed teams – Lucknow Super Giants and Kolkata Knight Riders – will lock horns against each other at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Sunday. LSG’s batting woes have manifolded as they haven’t been able to deliver the goods.
It would make sense for LSG to go back to their opening pair of Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Makram as the right-handed duo had delivered consistently in the previous season. Ayush Badoni was doing a decent job in the middle order and he should go back to his usual position.
Meanwhile, LSG pace trio of Mohammed Shami, Mohsin Khan and Prince Yadav were right on the money with the ball whereas Mayank Yadav had a tough night against RR, conceding 56 runs in four overs. Yadav was making a comeback to professional cricket after almost an year and he should be given more game time by the LSG’s think tank.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders were able to register their first win of IPL 2026 in the last game against Rajasthan Royals. Rinku Singh played a match-winning knock of 53 runs to get back into form and it was a huge positive for the three-time champions.
Furthermore, Varun Chakravarthy bagged 3-14 in his quota of four overs and this performance would have added a shot to his arm after a tough start to the tournament.
