The previous season’s runners-up Punjab Kings, will lock horns against Gujarat Titans in their home den at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh on Tuesday.
PBKS’ two young guns – Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya – had provided solid starts to the Mohali-based franchise in the previous season and both of them would look to carry the same form. Shreyas Iyer had once again led from the front as well as aplomb and he would look to get the best out of his resources.
The previous year’s finalist will miss the services of Lockie Ferguson, who will miss the initial phase to be with his newborn baby. However, PBKS looks like a solid unit and they would want to come up with a collective effort.
On the other hand, Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill said he has nothing to prove in the IPL after the T20 World Cup snub. Gill has performed consistently in the last three-four years and he would look to be at his best.
Jos Buttler’s form will be a cause of concern for the Titans and the English batter must fire for the IPL 2022 champions. Furthermore, Rashid Khan’s stock has dipped in the last couple of seasons and the Afghanistan spinner will be determined to prove his mettle.
