The inaugural champions, Rajasthan Royals, will face five-time champions Mumbai Indians at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium, Guwahati, on Tuesday. While RR have won both of their games, MI have won one and lost one so far.
RR were able to snatch a win from the jaws of defeat against Gujarat Titans as Jofra Archer and Tushar Deshpande were able to defend 15 runs off the last two overs. Furthermore, Dhruv Jurel scored a fine knock of 75 runs off 42 balls, which would give him a lot of confidence.
Riyan Parag’s team has adopted an aggressive approach with their openers going all guns blazing at the start in the Powerplay overs. Ravi Bishnoi also bagged four wickets in the last game, which was a huge positive for the franchise.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians were not at their best against Delhi Capitals, especially with the bat as they could only manage 162 runs on the board. Hardik Pandya, who missed the previous game due to illness, will return to action against RR.
Pandya was certainly missed by MI in the previous game and he would look to deliver the goods. The spin department remains a concern for MI as Mayank Markande hasn’t been at his best and thus the onus will be on Mitchell Santner.
Head to Head: Matches: 31, Won by MI: 16, Won by RR: 14, No result: 1.
