IPL’s digital rating was 130 million and PSL’s is more than 150 million – Najam Sethi

Pakistan Cricket Board president Najam Sethi has made a stunning claim regarding the viewership of the Indian Premier League and recently concluded Pakistan Super League. Sethi claimed that PSL’s digital rating is better than the IPL.

Meanwhile, IPL is regarded as the best T20 league in the world as the big players ply their trade in the competition. Furthermore, the window of April and May is fixed for the IPL and no other big series take place during the same time.

Speaking in a press conference ahead of the final, Sethi said, “Let’s talk about digital. PSL was only at the halfway stage, so I asked about our digital rating. Najam Sethi show used to have a 0.5 rating on TV, whereas PSL is getting a rating of more than 11. So, it would be 18 or 20, when it completes.”

“Over 150 million people watched it digitally. It is not a small thing. At the same stage, IPL’s digital rating was 130 million and PSL’s is more than 150 million. So this is a great success for Pakistan”, he further added.

Sethi was also delighted with the smooth conduct of PSL 8 after Lahore Qalandars defended their title by beating Multan Sultans in the summit clash by one run.

The playoff stages of the tournament went ahead as planned despite thousands of supporters of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran Khan took to the streets across the country to protest the attempted arrest of their leader on a court order.

Sethi said in the post-match presentation, “It’s great to see the PSL 2023 season be a great success. It’s a collective effort and I’d like to thank everyone involved. Including the police and security staff who ensured top security. Also would like to thank everyone else involved. Would love to thank the overseas players for coming over, even during hard times. Many people in the federal government who helped us to conduct the tournament smoothly.”

He added, “There are lot more names to talk about that I don’t know whom not to name. After a long time, we’ve seen such a great season in the PSL. We had to overcome so many obstacles but we managed to do so. Would like to thank each and every one of you, without your support this wouldn’t have been possible. Would like to thank all the franchises for their efforts in making this tournament a grand success.”
