Former Indian all-rounder Irfan Pathan believes domestic teams like Mumbai and Punjab can beat Pakistan at the International level. Pakistan suffered a thrashing seven-wicket loss against India at Dubai in the ongoing Asia Cup on Sunday.

Pakistan could only manage 127-9 in their 20 overs after electing to bat first as the Men in Green could not get any impetus. Kuldeep Yadav was the star of the show, returning with impressive figures of 3-18 in his quota of four overs.

India were then able to chase down the target of 128 with 25 balls to spare and thus the Men in Blue registered a comprehensive win against the arch-rivals.

“If you ask which of our domestic teams can beat Pakistan, I know for sure Mumbai can beat them. Punjab can beat them. Next, which IPL team can beat Pakistan? A lot of them,” Irfan Pathan said on Sony Sports Network. 

On the other hand, former Indian batting coach Abhishek Nayar said Pakistan were never in the game against India from the word go.

“We were thinking about how to build up the game. Pakistan came with spinners and did not have fast bowlers. Their bowling was different but there was no actual difference. From the start to end, after winning the toss and batting first to the chase, Pakistan were not in the competition at all. India were playing versus India and it was more of a practice match for the future,” he reflected. 

Meanwhile, former Indian wicket-keeper Saba Karim also highlighted that India has been a dominant force in the Asia Cup, and Pakistan were no match against Suryakumar Yadav’s team.

“Did a match actually happen yesterday? The condition India made of Pakistan. I think we have been seeing India’s dominance in Asia for a few years now, it is a lot. This difference between India and other teams is in everything. In every aspect, we are ahead, and we saw an example again yesterday,” he said. 

India will next take on Oman at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Friday.
