Jamshedpur FC’s head coach Aidy Boothroyd has observed renewed confidence and maturity in his team after a poor start. The previous season’s League Shield winners had won their last match against East Bengal FC by 2-1 after playing a 2-2 draw against Chennaiyin FC.
However, Jamshedpur FC is struggling at the 10th place in the standings with only two wins in 14 matches of the ongoing ninth edition of the Hero Indian Super League.
Jamshedpur FC won against East Bengal after a late strike from Ritwik Das in the 85th minute of the game. Boothroyd feels the team hasn’t had the rub of the green on their side in some matches.
“We’ve been very close on a number of occasions, particularly at home to winning another game, but to score in the way that we did because we scored in the last few minutes of the game just meant that we kept pushing. I think we have to use that digression all the way through to the end of the game which is something we haven’t been doing. We’ve been lacking in confidence but I saw a renewed confidence and a renewed maturity,” stated Boothroyd in the pre-match press conference.
Things have gone south for the Men in Steel but they will look to turn the tables in the upcoming matches. Boothroyd also shed light on the performances of two goalkeepers – Vishal Yadav and TP Rehenesh.
The head coach also opened up on the team’s playing XI and also gave an update on the inclusion of new signing Dylan Fox.
“Thankfully, Germanpreet (Singh) came back through his injury, which was his cross for the goal. Dylan Fox is at a number of niggles, which we’re monitoring. We’ve brought him into play and he hasn’t featured yet. So, hopefully, we can get him fit in the next few days,” he added.
