Former Australian head coach Justin Langer revealed that Rishabh Pant haunted him in the last two Border-Gavaskar series in Australia. Pant scored 274 runs in four Test matches on the previous tour of Australia at an impressive average of 68.50.
The left-hander scored a match-winning knock of 89 runs in the memorable Test match at the Gabba, which India won by three wickets to take the series by 2-1. Furthermore, the southpaw scored 350 runs in four Test matches on the 2018-19 tour at an average of 58.33.
Pant has played some unbelievable knocks in Test cricket and he has been a consistent performer for India in the red-ball version.
Meanwhile, Justin Langer is Lucknow Super Giants’ head coach and the franchise bought Pant for a whopping amount of INR 27 crore in IPL mega auction, making him the most expensive bowler in the IPL history. Pant was not retained by Delhi Capitals ahead of the auction.
“Rishabh Pant has haunted me the most from the last two series. Now a week ago, I hope he’s my favourite person in the world with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) picking him. Now he’s my mate not my nemesis,” said Langer on air.
LSG co-owner Sanjiv Goenka has revealed that either Nicholas Pooran or Rishabh Pant will lead the team in the upcoming season.
On the other hand, Pant was dismissed after scoring 21 runs in the first innings of the second Test match, which is a pink-ball affair. Rohit Sharma decided to bat first after winning the toss and India have been bowled out for 180.
