Former Indian opener Kris Srikkanth believes Chennai Super Kings can appoint Chandrakant Pandit as their new head coach if he fits the bill to MS Dhoni’s preference. Pandit has all the experience under his belt in the domestic circuit and led Kolkata Knight Riders to glory in IPL 2024 season.

On the other hand, Stephen Fleming recently parted ways with Chenni Super Kings after being associated with the franchise for almost 18 years.

Meanwhile, according to reports, Hemang Badani can take over as CSK’s head coach.

Kris Srikkanth said on his YouTube Channel, “If Dhoni is preferring an Indian coach, then I would go for Chandrakant Pandit. He’s a good guy and has won trophies. But CSK should go for an Indian option. Either the coach must have been a great international player or achieved big as a coach at the domestic or IPL level.”

“There is no way Hemang Badani should be CSK’s head coach. He didn’t do anything in DC. I don’t know why CSK should go all-out for him. He is nothing special as a coach. When you have Dhoni, why do you even need someone else as coach? Dhoni himself is enough as head coach.”

The 1983 World Cup-winning player said CSK should not take any call in a haste and backed them to take their time before appointing the new head coach.

“It’s fine that CSK are taking their time. There is no necessity to make the decision in a hurry. The auction will only be in December, so there’s enough time. So they shouldn’t rush it at all and should think calmly to make the right decision,” said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).

CSK could not qualify for playoffs in IPL 2026 and would look to bounce back strongly in the next edition of the tournament.
